First step - reduce your income! If you don't make enough, you can't pay, right? The I quit my job/got fired/my hours reduced/not I'm single and need more free time so I am taking on a lesser paid job/no overtime is common, but my favorite the commission sales job. #mepolitics

The commission sales job goes like this - I have to quit my secure job I have been at for years with a reasonable salary to take this commission sales job with so much "potential" that is an opportunity I can't miss. I'll make a ton so in the end it's MUCH better. #mepolitics

BUT I'm going to need you to base my child support on this ridiculously low base until I make it big. This will pay for itself and then some, have a little faith! Sound like the tax bill? #mepolitics

Another fun strategy is OMG, I JUST BOUGHT ALL THIS STUFF AND HAVE NO MONEY BUT YOU CAN HAVE EVERY PENNY LEFT OVER AFTER MY MORTGAGE, Car payment (the kids need to be in a safe car), new motorcycle (saves $ on gas), new gym membership (I need to be healthy)... #mepolitics

...trip with my new significant other (I want to be less stressed to be a better parent), increased grocery budget (I just can't cook like you and you want the kids to have healthy veggies, right?)... Sound like the omnibus/budget? #mepolitics

When those don't work, you've set it up so that the next step is to go to court and ask for a downward deviation because you just can't live in your budget and it needs to be sustainable, so OBVIOUSLY the thing that should be cut is child support. #mepolitics

Everything else is a credit-approved, budgeted item and you income is spoken for. Plus, child support is probably bigger than all of those smaller items anyway. Sound like a balanced budget argument? #mepolitics

The economy is strong (ish), unemployment is low (ish). This is when you pay down bills, put back the $ you borrowed from the piggy bank and get your house in order for leaner times. #mepolitics
