When called for jury duty on a domestic violence case, the judge asked who there had direct experience with DV, themselves or family/friends. At least 40% of the potential jurors stood up. They all had to be questioned behind a curtain. #mepolitics
Tagging in to say you would not believe the % of my clients who have experienced abuse (emotional, threats of harm, financial, physical, sexual - so much abuse)...and I don't seek those cases out. I limit # of cases I take that start with PFAs for sanity.

....it's complicated. It's very difficult to balance justice. I have seen massive abuses, almost exclusively by the abuser - but depending on the type of abuse that person could be the Plaintiff, Defendant, or both. Relationships are messy, bias runs deep.
