      I do not find the GOP leadership in Maine that attracts news to be particularly representative of the GOP I personally know. Usually what I hear is that it's picking from the less bad of options, which translates loosely into the one that feels like they aren't being attacked by.

      That again is the leadership. Not every place is like this, but Maine does (generally) prefer collaboration. Even though the political climate has gotten its tendrils in our politics too - the political "greats" here are greats for working together.
