We should start problem-solving by coming up with a range of solutions using everyone's perspectives, both what they bring to the table and what is created in the discussion. Then you use the research/data that is legitimate to knock out the obvious bad choices.

A fiscal conservative is going to come up with different problem areas than someone who is focused on social justice - and that's a good thing! Who wants problem-solving from only one point of view? That's how you get deeply flawed laws with unintended consequences.

This is why I focus on process more than issues a lot of the time. Issues are absolutely important, but if you are just yelling you position at the other side(s), it's unproductive. We *need* to get back to proper process and working together.
