I generally have no issues with guns. I have issues with weapons, particularly heavy assault weapons, that get into the hands of domestic violence perpetrators & the mentally ill. I work in family law & have seen way too many be constantly threatened and in a state of fear.

We have to control those situations. I don't know the exact mechanism(s) yet. We should be having a dialogue about it, now. Spend a few mornings on PFA day in district court. It's eye-opening how much of a problem DV is in Maine.

The guys who aren't concerned how their kids are doing after seeing their mom get the crud beat out of her by dad, and their first question is "when do I get my guns back?" Those guys don't need guns. Ever.

I see your point but guns like ar 15s its just a class of rifle that allows you to customize it machine guns like the m249 m240bravo are already heavily regulated but i agree with you as far as mental health and other agencies need to do a better job of reporting information

Pt 2 with one another for example the texas shooter he was dishonorably discharged which is a automatic disqualification for purchasing a gun period the aor force never reported the information so he cleared his background check
