Yeah sorry new folks if you thought you were getting some kind of expert or something I just have actually lived in these programs and FYI they aren't what you'd think of as "good"
Once upon a time we were poor. I have these memories of a kid getting velveeta-esque long brown boxes that were just "cheese"...but you never knew what sort of cheese. I'm grateful I had food, but the improvements toward fresh produce are a benefit to everyone.

My folks use liheap, it's only maybe $30 for a few months out of the year....but for them, it goes a long way..like $30 is enough for 3 more dinners, an extra tank of gas to drive to doctors, their metformin medication for the month... diabetes test strips...a copayment
