I had marketplace health insurance last year. The coverage was so bad and deductibles so high, I didn't go to the doctor at all last year...even when I should have. The ACA is deeply flawed legislation and we should be working to create coverage that is usable.

Weird. Our ACA coverage has family max annual out of pocket expense at less than $6000. But we do support universal health care/single payer.
It's not particularly weird. If you are paying $3/mo, you have subsidies and cost sharing to cap the out of pocket maximums at lower levels than those who do not have a subsidy.

Part of the challenge with the ACA is that it’s so unevenly distributed. It speaks to how hard it is to create a system that is fair to all.

I agree. It cuts out hard "when you can afford it" which is when every other program thinks you can "afford" full price too. It creates resentment instead of unity to slay the healthcare problems.
