Weird. We just retired and our ACA coverage this year is $3.00 per month and seems great so far.

There is definitely some good in the ACA, but for self-employed above the income threshold, it's horrible. Our premiums were around $900/mo and even if you went for the "free" well-visit, if you discussed anything the visit was hundreds of dollars.

The ACA was created to help working class people, who make less than lawyers do, be able to afford health ins. For a lumberjack such as myself it has been great. $300/mo, low deductible. Before ACA was $500/mo w' $5000 deductible & I had to drop it. Sorry it didn't work for you

It didn't work for a lot of folks. I was even less impressed with the GOP plan. We should be heading incrementally on healthcare that works for everyone.

It must be different for others. My brother is dirt poor and ACA saved his life. He finally was able to get a heart procedure. Sure fix it, but God bless
@BarackObama for caring. My family loves him. -
The ACA has subsidies that kick in at different income levels. Once you get not that high up in income, it rapidly drops off. Here is a calculator to see for your state and household size who is generally eligible at which brackets. https://www.healthcare.gov/lower-costs/

ACA was only option for coverage for my sister last & this year. Last year: affordable, good deductible, so-so coverage. This year: WAY cheaper & better coverage- far better than my $600/mo employer plan. Either way, it's coverage she wouldn't have otherwise.

I can attest its absolutely miserable for a family of 4 with no subsidies and absolutely unusable. For those w/ sub, it's great
