As someone who daily sees how desperate nonprofits are, the waste of election dollars is painful. I applaud this approach and @tiffanybond seems awesome. BUT...why do people who don't live in my district always feel entitled to run here?https://twitter.com/SteveCollinsSJ/status/959781357781241857 …

Maine's second district is not the runner-up prize. It is not the farm team. It is an actual, real part of the state with amazing residents and its own issues and it deserves someone WHO LIVES HERE representing it.

I don't blame
@TiffanyBond. There's precedence for this.@RepPoliquin never lived here until he ran.@Lucasstclair doesn't live here. It's an epidemic!1 reply 0 retweets 2 likesShow this thread -
Is it easier to get a job in southern Maine? Of course it is. But dang it, if you are going to represent this district you need to understand how hard it is to live here. YOU NEED TO BE HERE.

And Cherie, I do agree. I would not run in CD2 if we hadn't already been house hunting. The house we live in was purchased for proximity to the law school with an aging car. We have one bathroom.

Part of why I have been so picky is we *want* to be there and not move again for a long time. My husband and I text real estate listings instead of love notes. If there were someone I felt more qualified who was already there I would not run.

There are qualified people here. Why they aren't running is another problem. But I stand by my belief that CD2 deserves someone committed enough to us to live here. We are good enough, smart enough, and, dang it, [some] people like us.

I know how awesome it is. I have worked there for years and will live there soon. It's a weird race and a motley crew of job applicants. The worst part of a win will be leaving. DC isn't my favorite town. I'd pick Woodstock to Calais any day of the week over DC.
