Yeah that's not actually responsive to the question I asked. "--Is federal tax rate on folks who make $500K a yr too low? What rate would you prefer? Also estate tax." #mepolitics

I don't have an answer for you because the answer is "it depends". It depends on how we structure our corporate code. It depends on the overall budget. It depends on what makes the most sense on the priorities in any given year.

Sending legislators that deal in asbolutes on every single issue is a bad way to pick representatives because it forcloses negotiations and the possibility of novel solutions. For example, data might say a good tax scheme might include UBI, which would thoroughly alter the budget

Throwing out a random number for those over $500k doesn't help you. It's not a practical or realistic way to gauge how successful legislation will be. My priority is an equitable budget, but absent a working budget document I can't tell you the answer with any efficacy.

If I was a CD-02 voter it'd help me get an idea re: the relative burdens you think different income groups oughta have to fund govt. That's fundamental. I like candidates who respect voters enough to be candid on basic issues. When they don't it makes me suspicious.

I think your issue with me is when and how I am specific, not necessarily my views. When I was reading the tax bill, I specifically called out issues I had. For example, problems with eliminating the HELOC interest deduction, and why that is a bad idea in a bit of detail.

I am eager to support Poliquin challengers and respect your commitment to granular detail in legislation, but I would like to see a positive mission statement about vision, principles, specific goals and red lines

I will work on mid-level specificity. Thank you. It's been hard for me to focus on mid-level when it feels like congress is skipping the basics, like reading bills and not trying to turn every bill into a name-calling war.

Not reading bills is egregiously bad. But promises of correct process aren’t enough. I need to know a candidate’s vision for Maine and America, their capacity to work with others, inspire but also compromise

Given how toxic the world is, I have been trying to stay to federal issues and how I would be on current/pending legislation. Maine has a lot of state-level concerns that are out of the scope of the office. When there are federal changes, I try to give a stance.

I have put some broad issues statements on the website, but am happy to do more. When I ran previous text by folks for opinion, I was told it was too much so I cut it way back.
