There were very few changes, which means this is likely a symbolic vote only. Think about that. Your congress is taking time from actual work to have your senators read a bill they have no intention of passing...and they had better read it if they vote on it.

Maybe this would not be a big deal if they had all of their work done and were twiddling thumbs. They don't. Or if this were an easy, agreed to piece of legislation that was low-hanging fruit to pass in bipartisan spirit. It's not.

This is needlessly divisive legislation. There are not a lot of options for why this is so bad...were the authors sloppy? Trying to be jerks? Completely incapable of understanding the impacts of this bill? Totally unconcerned with the barriers for proper healthcare?

What about issues of domestic violence? Immigration? Accessibility to and affordability of proper prenatal testing. They all are caught in the cross hairs of this bill. Anyone who voted for this should never, ever, EVER have your vote again. EVER.

If you are avidly pro-life, you should be more upset by this bill than if you are pro-choice. This bill was NOT written to benefit the lives of babies. It was written to make you fight with people who you probably agree with. Read that again. This bill was not written for babies.

I ask you to check your federal delegation's votes on this. No one should vote for this bill, even if they "know" it won't pass or it is symbolic. A vote for something is a vote for it. We need to stop electing people who vote for bad law even if it has a compelling title.

They are telling you that they are ok with a bill about unborn children that doesn't allow a physician to consider the medical condition of that unborn child, whether or not that child is terminally ill, in intense pain and/or missing irreplaceable vital organs.

They are telling you that they are ok with a bill that would force a mother into a more risky childbirth or until a baby actually dies in utero when that information is available. No one should be ok with that. NO ONE.
