For many Americans politics can't center "fun" because they've historically had to fight for their lives, literally. Conflict comes when some people refused to ignore this, even when it wasn't directly threatening them. Don't be too dismissive of not-fun politics. It saves lives.
There are a range of ways to be politically engaged. I'm advocating we add back in one that seems to be missing, not eliminating all alternate forms of political engagement.
I thought so too and hoped you’d say. Wanted to note appreciation for the people who refuse to be “nice” - because when the nice people try to much to avoid conflict, the not-nice people have room to do more harm. That’s why we this administration.
I am not even remotely conflict adverse. I'm a divorce attorney. I love to reconfigure the broken. 
I think there are collaborative ways to handle conflict, and other avenues if collaboration fails.
Nice =/= pushover.
