I wasn’t challenging you, just curious as to why one would choose to be an Indie. I think there are many moderates in the dem party; Sen Klobuchar for one and she’s well respected on both sides of the aisle.
I didn't take it as a challenge. It's a question I get a lot. The party-affiliated moderate seems increasingly less common. I would not feel genuine approaching a party and trying to bend their standards to my will as a new member. "Hey, I'm a 'X' now, be like me!" Seems tacky.

OK, that I can understand, especially given the battle over the party. D is trying to pander so far left, I have unsubscribed to newsletters and donation requests and I used to be a monthly donor.
