This will be fun for some people. This is not cute for a nonwhite person having to face a racist who thinks that person's racial group is inferior to them. Impossible to have fun chat with someone whose politics is out to cause you and your loved ones, harm, and violence.
For many Americans politics can't center "fun" because they've historically had to fight for their lives, literally. Conflict comes when some people refused to ignore this, even when it wasn't directly threatening them. Don't be too dismissive of not-fun politics. It saves lives.
There are a range of ways to be politically engaged. I'm advocating we add back in one that seems to be missing, not eliminating all alternate forms of political engagement.
