If I average my decades of voting, I vote an evenish split between the two parties, with some independents tossed in. I don't think I have ever voted D for president, either R or I. I match the skills/issues to the scope of the position. If I like no one, I write in.

It would seem to me if the major parties wanted to court unenrolled voters, it would be a good carrot to build goodwill. Plus, if it moved parties to more moderate nominations, parties would likely see more enrollments.

This is a really valid point and why I am not enrolled. I am not far enough left or right to survive a primary in one of the parties and I don't *want* to move farther left or right. I want the responsibility to be to constituents and good law, not party ideology.

That's empirically false.

We are not afraid of independents voting in our primary!

I think it would be a little awkward to write myself in against Henry
