      Thing is, an independent candidate splits the vote. We’ve seen the results before. Tiffany should run as a Democrat.

      As an unenrolled voter, I couldn't disagree more. I'm only marginally more loyal to the disorganized, uninspiring Ds than I am the bullying Rs. Both parties are disasters right now and of no appeal. Neither speaks to or for me.

      The question that needs to be asked is: why would I? What are Ds doing to inspire my confidence and vote? Why rest on the "who else is she going to vote for?" argument?

      That's what the "Independents split the vote" argument essentially boils down to from my perspective. "You are ruining things, so just go with us" isn't compelling.

      Amy's point is taken and valued. I just think I appeal at least as well to disenchanted GOP as disenchanted Dem...and unaffiliated that would otherwise stay home or write in elmo. I don't see myself as a one-sided vote split, more like an even-ish vote reduction. #mepolitics
