Here is how it feels as a candidate.. Am I GOP anymore? No, the party changed. I still have an eye on budget, but... Go visit Dems - not really a moderate friendly place, no interest in party line pressure, wouldn't survive a primary from my not left enough views.

Check out greens - not really a green either.
Decide to be me; beholden to good laws. Get side-eye periodically for not joining clubs.
If 2016 taught us anything, it might be that party primaries put forward candidates focused on party loyalty, not the job.
