Those are different things.
Social Security & Medicare are government run insurance programs with premiums advanced during working years. Income tax pays for the day to day grind.
A better comparison might be would you give up roads & military for income tax.

#me02. The average household is about $40k/year. For many there is no back up option. They paid dutifully their whole lives & didn't have the resources to invest elsewhere.#mepolitics
It should not be their issue to resolve a governmental failure. It's the responsibility of those running the program to correct failures.
