This is the part of the IRS code that gives credit for taxes to help make coverage "affordable" under the ACA. #mepolitics

There are 2 main mechanisms: 1. Providing credits to the insured related to premiums 2. Providing payments to the insurer toward deductibles

#2 is the one that previously has been thrown under the bus, which is ridic, because it's a better deal for the gov't. Those payments only

go out if the services are used. Not what I would target, but seems to have a bullseye from the GOP.

#1 is what effectively helps scale premiums to income for those who do not qualify for Medicaid. (called MaineCare here) #mepolitics

So far this bill appears more nefarious than prior versions. 36B doesn't hit the professional class that much, but it hits middle class...

and hits it pretty hard. It would effectively get rid of affordability for a wide-range of self-employed folks. #mepolitics
