#1 is what effectively helps scale premiums to income for those who do not qualify for Medicaid. (called MaineCare here)

Self-employed often lack sick days, paid time off, unemployment insurance or any other supports to weather a health crisis.

The self-employed also frequently have children that do not qualify for medical any other way. They make too much for MaineCare. #mepolitics
