There should be a SEPARATE conversation on how, or if, we as a nation believe procedures should be legal. It's too big to bury in insurance.
Not weird. It's thoroughly predictable when we have elected officials who spend more campaigning than 10-20x the annual salary of the job.

If you want professional legislators, pick people who don't take outside funds & need a paycheck. Hire people who take it as a serious job.

Hiring people beholden to only the constituents; hiring people that are not for sale and don't need to be for sale - that's how you fix this
