A strict commitment to a balanced federal budget would be a disaster, especially now. With the low interest rates right now, there’s virtually no cost to borrowing. And a huge need to get assistance out to Americans right away.
I think you misunderstood my stance. I favor fiscal prudence and balancing when sensible. It's not prudent to have a balanced budget in a pandemic...also true, the spending has been irresponsible crap not focused on citizens.

To some extent, it's not *super* different than a household budget. There are times for debt/deficit spending. Sometimes you have to use a credit card for emergencies, but you shouldn't live on them. Sometimes you have low % debt that makes sense for the ROI.
