I have been a voter for decades and don't recall ever getting a mailer like this.

It may be the first time you've seen it on a mailer, but the fact that ballot requests are public record and used by campaigns isn't newt. It actually is helpful for us to know who is sitting on those ballots, especially since people really do lose them, toss them, etc.

I'm sure it is very useful. That doesn't make it less uncomfortable when it sounds like a party is tracking you specifically when you have opted out of parties.

Being unenrolled isn't going to stop either party from talking to you. Does it make you feel better or worse to know that when you return your ballot, we'll also know that, so we'll be able to stop bugging you? Thanks for being a reliable voter!!

No. But I suspect they aren't concerned with my opinion, at all.

Why would you say that? Literally the entire act of a good field campaign is hearing what's on voters' minds and gathering data.

I suspect this is a conversation you don't want to have with me on twitter.

I honestly and earnestly think it is kinda sad that you think people campaigning for office truly don't care what you think. I know a lot of people feel that way, but I've actually seen evidence to the contrary...*especially* from the Warren campaign.

I haven't had any direct communication with the Warren campaign. I can tell you that on a local level, unless I know a candidate personally, I have had almost zero experiences where a candidate or elected official takes action, or even appears to care at all about my opinion.

That's truly a bummer. My state rep and senator both personally respond to my emails within days, as does my mayor (of my mid sized suburb, ~60,000 ppl). Sounds like you need better representation! My city councilman truly does suck, though.

The last time I felt like I had decent representation, I was a city official on a commission and that takes us back to the personally knowing the reps.
