For Veterans Day, I long for a world where we stop treating our vets like political props and photo ops, and instead truly value their service by providing functional support and care, throughout their service and on their return. It's easy to wave a flag, and snap a photo.
Too many vets suffer from unemployment/under-employment, homelessness, food insecurity, lack of access to healthcare/mental healthcare, addiction, deportation, and suicide.
It's hard to prioritize appropriately in our federal budget.
Let's put $ where beliefs are.
