Large portions of elected officials would need to branch off and delineate from their former party over time. Or you have a groyp like the Tea Party or DemSoc splitting off instead of caucusing within their respective party.

I would listen to @Ocasio2018 on this. She's a great example of someone who is unafraid, bold and specific on the issues, and working within the system to change the system.

The real trick here is for Dems to field candidates worth voting for. That means no more corp/bank money, full financial disclosure, no more centrist malarkey, and no more promises that can't be fulfilled.

Except that "centrist malarkey" in some districts is what voters want. It's a democracy, after all, not a smorgasbord ... Sometimes it's the centrist that keeps the hellish, anti-people extremist out of government.

Third parties too often run woefully unqualified candidates. The OH12 Green is a buffoon, but that doesn't matter to "purity" types. Too often the loser is the candidate who'd actually work for what those voters want and need, and, these days, democracy itself loses.
