I love this thread. The verdict? Everyone hated Ethan Frome and loved Fitzgerald & Hemingway, and people are very polarized on Tess of the D'Urbervilles, Lord of the Flies, and everything by James Joyce. My take? Tess & Portrait of the Artist are great, but Finnegan's Wake is bad

Tough to pick one I didn’t like, I was pretty lucky to get all great books throughout... The Great Gatsby or Catcher in the Rye were my favorite 20th century lit. Favorite Shakespeare was Macbeth.
-
Macbeth is also my favorite Shakespeare. My favorite book in high school was definitely Catch-22, especially the line “he was going to live forever or die trying in the attempt.” Least favorite is a toss-up between Great Expectations and David Copperfield

Off the top of my head, Crucible was least favorite and War and Peace was favorite. Mostly because I had the coolest teacher for Russian History class. We talked current events more than anything in that class.

I actually loved Lord of the Flies. It was probably my favorite in junior high.

My least favorite was Tess of the d’Urbervilles. Melodrama wasn’t my thing. My favorite? Probably Dune.
