I had an interesting conversation recently with a friend who'd been at WDI for more many, many years. We both agreed that the one thing that Walt would not have been interested in was theme parks. He was done with that and wanted to apply what he had learned to the larger world.

I think it's funny when people suppose what Walt would have liked or disliked about this or that new attraction. He wouldn't have cared! He'd be amazed and excited by the new tech, yes, but his interest would be in how it could be used to make people's live's better.

He had people for the parks, a hand picked team. Hench, Sklar, Davis, etc. He might be pissed that the lessons they had learned were being forgotten or ignored today, but he, himself, would not be building more theme parks. He had bigger fish to fry.

Man, I really wish that he could have built his vision of E.P.C.O.T.

I always wonder what Orlando would look like if he had just a couple more years. If he could have gotten E.P.C.O.T. down the road just a bit further and better defined it could be a really different world.
