    How to make a living doing what you love: Get really, really good. Write/make videos about it until you have an audience. Offer to teach people. Live modestly in 99% of cities that aren’t SF or NY. You can become a full-time writer, painter, musician, comedian this way.

    This is fundamental to negotiating and renegotiating contracts, you have to be profitable on average to be able to back out when your out of the money without losing your cool. Being able to say no comes from not internalizing decisions.

    Leverage comes from being able to say no. Profitability allows you to say no to everything. Profitability gives you infinite leverage.

    It takes 5 to ten years to build a career / business

    The commonly cited 70% failure rate is only so high because founders and investors are trying to reach a certain scale in a certain amount of time. If you are willing to spend 10+ years to build a sustainable business that matters, your odds of success go way up.
