Standards can't mean much if people send their kids to school with no stable moral family background & no respect for adults and education. Too much blame goes to the schools instead of the clientele.

Where I teach, standards are decently high, but the government, parents and students often make it difficult to achieve them- especially w/cuts in funding & lawsuits.
