One hypothesis: nothing. I put an 80% probability on this. It is like experiencing flow. In a state of flow I completely forget myself, but then the environment shifts and I become self-aware again. This assumes the environment will shift of course.

To clarify, that’s what would happen if your ego disappeared while you were in some VR world. If you forget your existence while you are inside an ego-tunnel, well that’s just normal daily life!
