    From my perspective, paying travel & hotel is job0. Even if you can’t offer a speaker fee, get them there, get them fed and get them home (up front not reimbursed)! Speakers, if you aren’t being valued don’t do it

    There is no reason on God's green earth why SANS, for example, charges the amount of $$$ they do for training and doesn't pay for speaker travel or lodging And they aren't the only ones People attend conferences because of speakers. Speaking is a ton of work. PAY YOUR SPEAKERS

    Today I left home in Amsterdam, worked in Switzerland, did financial services work through a Dutch company, then flew back from an airport in France. Still blows my mind that British public have voted to be the only Europeans not be able to do this, in just 11 months time.

    Great thread pointing out some realities that are often missed by infosec peeps

    Open Wifi Security (Friday evening rant) 1) Yes, at our hotels we have open wifi as standard. No Client<->AP encryption (WPA/23), and no captive portal to logon to. Let me first explain some obvious reasons for doing so. (Often disregarded by infosec pros.)
