Today's #AnAnimalADay is the Abyssinian Ground Hornbill! Making their home on the savannah of Africa, these birds are about the size of a wild turkey. They may have ground in the name, but it's not bc they can't fly. They prefer to run when threatened, but will fly if necessary.

Its name also sounds like a mash-up of two #Beatles songs. #AnAnimalADay

Today's #AnAnimalADay is one of the strangest sea creatures you'll ever see--if you can see it: The Glass Octopus! Easy to see where the name comes from, as this cephalopod is practically transparent. It's rarely seen, making its home in the darkest waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Today's #AnAnimalADay looks like it has just thrown on its jersey for the big game: The 89'98 Butterfly! Not hard to see where this name comes from. Found mostly in Colombia, several different subspecies exist with variations in pattern, but all looking like an 88, 89, or 98.

We might as well look into permanently living on a cruise ship. We've not been back 3 weeks and my wife has already booked 2 more cruises. I must admit that I offered no protestations to her plans.

So now, my total weight loss is 75 pounds. If I go by the BMI (which is far from perfect, or even close), I am 22 pounds away from dropping to a "normal weight" category.

Diet confession time. I just got back from a 1 week cruise a few weeks ago & for 2 weeks leading up to it I decided to eat like a maniac. In those 3 weeks I gained 16 lbs! In the 3 weeks since we've been back I've lost those 16 & 2 lbs more! Apparently, metabolic confusion works

Today's #AnAnimalADay is the Osprey! This hawk species is a total pescatarian, and it's unique among North American raptors because it prefers live fish and dive bombing the water to get them. They're found throughout N.America, and special barbed feet pads help them grip fish.

Breaking News Alert: Eli Lilly, one of America's largest drugmakers, is capping the cost of insulin at $35. It's a 70% cut in price. Anyone with private insurance will be able to receive insulin for $35, and those without insurance can opt-in to purchase it for the same price.

I was today years old when I realized that rainbows are circular but we only see half the arc from the ground. This photo was taken by pilot Lloyd J Ferraro from the cockpit of a commercial airplane at 30,000 feet. I guess this means there's no pot of gold anywhere, eh?
