Before I knew this was a thing I ended up making a jailbreak tweak to patch Discord and remove the override, funny how it's 100% client side and only 2-3 days of work was required to fully bypass it before this change was public.

Discord chose to make this change. Their App Store page now says 12+ instead of 17+. Discord just chose to make their platform more appealing to parents, and now blame Apple.

You surely can’t think that Apple is complicit in this? Discord has users who are 13+. Apple has parental controls that allow parents to block 18+ apps. If Discord wants to let 13+ to use their app with restrictions, Apple completely disallows any avenue to accessing this content
