"Strong opinions, weakly held" - I love this nugget from product management best practices. Having strong opinions helps make decisions in uncertainty, yet holding them weakly encourages a healthy debate and takes your ego out of the process.

"Extrinsic is bad, intrinsic is good". But what if motivation is a continuum? Is it time to let go of the ideal of intrinsically motivating work? Work tasks don't need to be inherently enjoyable for you to love your job anyway.

The biggest problem with skill acquisition is that permanent employment is still widely perceived to be, well, permanent. That's a false sense of safety that leads to complacency. Your job is guaranteed not by your employment contract but by the value you can create.

I've been studying this framework since yesterday and I'm still contemplating all the ways it could enhance our approach to learning design. Comes with step-by-step instructions and examples. Seriously useful stuff.

The three laws of human behaviour: always a good reminder of the complexity we're facing as we try to change behaviours, and that only addressing the 'what' (and even the 'how') is never enough.

Such an important read by . A few Learning Techs ago I had a badge that read ‘Director’ and vendors flocked to pitch me their products (you’re mostly invisible when you’re just a ‘Learning designer’). The stuff they would say 🤯 ignorant at best, unethical at worst.

Dear entrepreneurs: when you propose to sell learning, that sale comes with a duty of care. So if you don't know anything about actual learning, please stay out of edtech.

Ok Americans, help me understand. Tipping self-service?!?! 🤯 I pay $3.75 for a cup of tea at a coffee shop, barista takes my order and pours hot water over tea leaves, and I’m expected to add 20% for this? Am I a bad person for not doing that? 🧐
