what the hell is WeChat??

It’s a mix between Facebook and WhatsApp used by everyone in China as the others are all banned or heavily limited
-
It's more like an all-in-one app. It does messaging, calls, blogging, games, banking, appointments, delivery service and more.
-
Yea, you’re right. It’s pretty amazing. Post photos of your food, pay the bill then order the taxi for getting home. Surprised it or something similar has never taken off in the west. Obviously being state “owned” makes it easier for all in one
-
It's basically a miniature internet ecosystem. Incredibly useful when an entire population uses the same system but also rife with opportunity for exploitation when the people running it are a f@scist gov't.
-
Sounds like a beautiful way to control and manipulate an entire population.

Of course, everyone is being manipulated. So would never pair my bank and stuff with this kind of platforms.

I refuse to believe that Google Plus is more popular than Twitter.
-
My theory is that anyone with gmail is basically given google+, I have it and have never used it

wonder if dead accounts count. its extra hard to delete on facebook so people just abandon them
-
I believe this is based in number of users that are active each month so it doesn't include dead accounts
-
oooh that makes sense! thanks!
-
It may also be counting numbers across all platforms. Some numbers that Facebook reports are for monthly active users across Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram, since they own all of those. I don't use Facebook, but I have Instagram, so I may get counted.
-
One weird thing about this video is that none of the numbers ever go down. Even Google Buzz, which died, still kept "175,000" and stayed on the list until another network passed it. Makes me think something's not too clear.
-
I don't think anyone deleted their Google plus accounts though as they were linked to their Google accounts so could be legit. The first big platform to lose monthly users was twitter this year. But this video only went to 2018...
-
Interesting, Ben. What was the driver of Twitter's loss of monthly users?
-
Bot bans maybe?
