    There is literally a guy known as Sheriff Corndog in AL bc he bought half a truckload of corn dogs, for $500, for his jail. The inmates ate corn dogs TWICE A DAY for weeks and he pocketed the extra cash. Over a three-year period he pocketed over $200,000.

    This is totally wild: Alabama lets sheriffs pocket the money leftover in their jail's food budget. Meaning they put the extra money in their personal bank accounts. Meaning they're incentivized to buy the cheapest, shitiest food.
