I read a book in which the author said Ezechima was a son of a Dein of Agbor, present day Ika in delta state. I simply want to verify.

They migrated from Benin, sons of "umu-chima" hence the first Obi is called "Ezechima" .... See T.S Basden's book - NIGER IBOS. Not as easy book to get hold of, my dad left me with one from many many years ago.

Ok, sir. But I've an issue with the author being a foreigner. Or was he a Nigerian? Foreign authors have a wont for recording what they think it was, not what it exactly was. And some were phonies, paid hacks employed to twist facts to suit their narratives.

The book was first published in 1921, at a time when there wasn't much well learned igbos and also this book is based on his experience having lived among igbos and Igbo land for over I think 20yrs.. G.T Basden pls (correction).

Also there were other areas he touched on in the book that were very accurate and verifiable. E.g the osu system, sacrifices, mbari houses, gods and goddesses.. Also history of areas like "ide-milli" ,"imo-awka",Niger expedition (1st,2nd&3rd)..

Benin-ibos (igbos),the abams and several other traditional cults groups.. Circumcision etc.. Its very diverse and detailed.. Not withstanding the author being a foreigner ,it's a nice book.
