Instead of pushing thoughts away just notice with patience and kindness. Observe how they come and go, how thoughts of people and things that are nowhere near suddenly appear, how strong emotions arise from mere air. Watch and gently let go. Just thoughts. Breathe. Just thoughts.

The amount of time we are living within our thoughts, compared to living in the stillness of the here and now, is shocking when we see it. Our thoughts pretend to be life itself, as well as our soul. It’s an illusion.
