Now we’re up to counting how many people die because of healthcare costs, rather than go bankrupt...https://twitter.com/nypost/status/1158807466383159296?s=21 …
I went bankrupt because of a co-pay! I had a 20% co pay on hospital stays. I cut my foot in the lake and got blood poisoning and was admitted with a fever of 105. 3 weeks in the hospital half in intensive care and removing infected lymph nodes. Over $70,000 & I was 22 & a waiter
I stepped on the wire in the river - got infection in my foot - 4 days in hospital here in the USA - bill over $25 000 - my tourist insurance from Czech Rep. covered 100% I was thinking about Americans when I was leaving the hospital ......
Medical costs in this country are way too high (but sure, "Obamacare is working") but in the rest of those countries, you get the healthcare you pay for. [insert here the tens of anecdotes like wait lists for surgery or baby Alfie, etc.]
I’m a Portuguese American and I’m currently in Portugal and you pay(not too expensive) for a private health care you get what you pay for. If you rely on the free health care and free clinics you have to wait way too much time and if you go to a private clinic it will cost a lot.
How many people can’t pay their taxes in those countries...
I'd rather pay taxes than have an accident and the first thing I have to worry about is the medical bills...
Number of people in Canada who die because they have to wait months for a basic medical service: 643k
This is incredibly untrue. How many people did in America because they’re afraid of a hospital bill? Or no access to a Dr? Non essential wait times in Canada are higher- anything deemed serious, essential or life threatening will receive immediate care.
I'm from Spain. I had an accident a couple of years ago and broke some bones. I had to wait less than five minutes to be attended. I also went to 30 sessions of rehabilitation. It was all free. In a couple of weeks I'm seeing one of the best neurologists in the world. For free.
The system has some flaws, but not as serious as some Americans seem to think. I don't think people with grave diseases are better treated in the USA than in Spain at all.
