I was at a scientific conference presenting a poster I was first author on and someone asked who did the analyses and I told them I did and then they said “who really did the analyses you don’t look like you could have”

Actually the downward slope of mortality rates is in keeping with the general trend over last few years and serves more as a cause for reassurance than celebration.

When a drug that has received accelerated approval fails in a confirmatory trial, the whole cost of failure is borne by the society. But the price of drugs on AA usually > the price of drugs that have full approval. Shouldn’t the price be tied to evidence?

I’m trying to figure out why...I think the distinction is that abbreviations feel fine when used for standard medical jargon (“c/b” for “complicated by”) but just feel really lazy when applied to colloquial phrases.

The use of “t/b/w” in medical documentation as an abbreviation for “touch base with” (and my visceral reaction to it) is really making me feel like a curmudgeonly old man.
