[2/4] Yet the OPCW inspected Barzah twice in 2017--most recently last Nov--and found nothing out of the norm. In a report issued just in Mar. of this year, OPCW confirms the Syrian govt was cooperating in the process of demolishing the facility. [3/4] Of Syria's former 27 CW-related facilities, the Barzah and Jamrayah compounds were the last 2 standing (before last night). Deal in 2013 had all other declared facilities destroyed or decommissioned.

[4/4] So which is it? Was Barzah clean and set to be demolished with Syrian cooperation, or was it the heart of an ongoing rogue CW program?

Well Russia said the terrorists they are actually fighting were driving in mass quantities of chemicals for production ...I believe this factiry was in the rebel held area...so it would appear the terrorists were using the facility..

Eh not sure I buy that. CBS had a reporter on the ground outside the facility today, they interviewed an employee. Employee's assertion that the OPCW had already been there is actually what prompted me to start digging through the org's labyrinthine archives. Turns out he's right

You mean the agency allowed on site after 8 days? Good dog.

There was a delay before the first inspection due to what was described as a security issue (related to the war, I imagine), but I don’t believe the OPCW considered this an outstanding issue. They nonetheless cleared the facility twice.
