Foreigners who don’t speak english very well are usually considered stupid even though they have achieved a task most english natives haven’t – learning another language.

If I move to another country I’ll learn their language and won’t expect them to learn mine. Until then if your in this country you should speak English!

Counter-argument. Why do we assume a forienger who can't speak English well but speaks another language is smart. For all we know, s/he's dumb and can't speak their own language well either, but we would never know it

That foreigner could have much wider skill sets and alternative approaches to common problems you face everyday. Give it a try and get your mind blown 🤯😎

True, but a person from the US who can only speak English, and very poorly, could still be that genius.pic.twitter.com/PXJXolepKn

True, but if they 100% refused to learn another language because "it's not useful", they'd be small minded. A genius maybe, but small minded. 😂

Just because you don’t speak English doesn’t mean you aren’t multilingual.

It seems like you don’t speak it. You would have understood it, if you’d understand this language. It literally states that “most English natives haven’t” NOT: “If you only speak English you’re not bilingual.”

Actually, grammatically speaking english isn't that hard. Its easy to learn basic english but it gets tricky when you learn all of the different nuances and meanings of certain structures

People get so rude about it. It takes intelligence to learn another language! It also takes a certain amount of bravery to move to a new land.

You also have a lot more diverse experience s and a richer history. But then again the person calling you dumb has probably never left his/her hometown since birth. 😒

I think it refers to the fact that we (foreigners) usually make grammatical mistakes and for some English natives "it sounds stupid or seems stupid" without think about the fact that it's not our first language. That happens a lot on social media.
