When a football player changes his method of thought, his leg is still broken. Depression is a direct cause of how you think through things.

N...no. First off, people don't choose their thought processes. No one wakes up and decides, "I'm not going to see the good in life anymore." Second off, depression is often the result of many things compounding, such as stress, trauma, health, and back luck with your genes.
-
They way we think of life determines how we experience life. I think people do choose their thought process
-
Yes you can change your thought process, it can take a long time, and possibly mental help expert, or falling in love, but you can change how you think. Its ignorant to think that someone is innable to think differently. I know because I've done it, I've been in the deep end.
-
its funny you say that since your description is "Happiness is like sadness, but happier" Kappa
-
sadness is lack of happiness. so it being happier, would by definition make it happiness. Anyway, that statement was for comedy, something that keeps me distracted from my feelings of emptiness and self hatred.

Depression is a mother fucker, I've been on so many meds in past 10 years. Turns out all I had to do was run a few miles every morning, mental state has never been so well. Just food for thought
-
Dopamine is fascinating chemical! You produce large amounts of it when you run, hike, play in the sun, ...

Yes, those. My bad. Funny my wife's depression improved when she started running and she continues to exercise claiming it helps her not feel depressed. If that's not the case in these 2 situations, what is?
-
If exercise helped, she probably doesn't have it too seriously. I'm not sure if I have major depression, or if I feel lonely. If you don't experience pleasure out of even eating, you know it's time to see the doctor

False. Ive had depression for almost half my life, it can be powered through with a strong will. Pills and therapy did nothing. I fixed it myself by having the resolve to keep pushing through it. Saying “it’s not your fault” convinces people it’s ok to let depression control them

Those who think mental illness (literally a disease/defficiency of the brain) isn't real, whether it be depression, anxiety, phobia, down syndrome, etc.. is mentally weakened by their ignorance and desire to feel 'superior' to another living being for personal sake.
-
Especially since people with these defficiencies have overcome them and more. To deem them nonexistant (even in forms of phobia/anxiety) is ludicrous.

Or when they say “just cheer up” “snap out of it” like I always say you wouldn’t expect someone in a wheelchair to just get up and use their legs and accuse them of being weak because they can’t.

A lot of depression based posts lately, and they all hit the nail on the head with their descriptions. Almost suspiciously so... Have you followed a mental health related account to copy these from?
