I learned some time ago that time between pops slows down to 2 seconds between pops is the ideal time to stop. You might still have a couple not popped but it's a fair balance between most popped and least burned imo.

I try to be. Lol. I love looking up useless knowledge and this was my opportunity to put it to use for once. -
I thought your head would be bigger.
-
Trust me, it's big enough. Don't need it getting any bigger. Lol.

They do, everyone just takes them off and throws them away.

I don’t throw mine away, I just leave it on the counter for a few weeks

The main reason those kernels don’t pop is because there’s a gap where the water can escape through. No water pushing outward, no pop, no popcorn.
-
And you can avoid burning your popcorn by just microwaving it for a safe amount of time. If the instructions say 1:30 to 2:30, microwave it for 2:00.
-
I just wait until the popping stops
-
Fair enough, I’m just a bit of obsessive when it comes to specifics.
-
I read on a popcorn bag once. Take it out of the microwave if there is more than a 2 second gap of the popcorn not popping.
