In my experience, we hire them...they just don't DO anything once they clock in. Showing up & clocking in is their idea of 'work'. Have seen it MANY times in our office, & it's easy work.

Amen! Same thing at my office. They want an “office” job, but end up watching their iPads and Netflix. Not all. There ARE wonderful exceptions. But the work ethics are missing in the younger workforce.
-
ours are mostly hired to do reception jobs. really, how difficult is it to answer phones, make appointments & do scanning?? I did it, it's NOT! they even get paid a little over minimum wage! we've had about 4 who were excellent...the rest, not so much.

Not hiring because they aren’t qualified and interview horribly.
-
And that's because qualifications are getting more difficult to get and lots of us aren't taught about what to do in an interview
-
And everyone who is working was taught? And there are stepping stone jobs to meet qualifications. Millennialist need to stop expecting an 80k salary out the start.
-
A lot of us know not to expect a massive salary when starting out What I'm saying is we often don't get the help we need to get the jobs
-
And that is the issue, millennials want help for everything and can’t go do something on their own and potentially fail because they are scared or whatever. I’ve interviewed millennials who do great but most do awful.
-
We do need at least some help with things to give us an idea of what to expect and what to do I say give us at least a bit of help when we're starting out (especially if it's their first job) and ease us into working more independently as time goes on
-
Help is good but go get it on your own and don’t expect school to teach it to you. Google it, go to the library, go talk to adults and get their advice.
-
Part of a schools job is to prepare us for the future, including getting jobs They should be giving us the advice we need, yet most don't

They're also the ones that instilled that work ethic through parenting

And when such millennial gets a job, the pay is so little that they can't support themselves and if they work two jobs, it's against their ethics.

As a business owner, I would not hire a lazy-minded, no work ethic individual who is unable and unwilling to communicate on a responsible, adult level, and whose priority is their cell phone. Think about it.
-
I am a nineteen year old business owner who also has more than one job, doing lots of different things. Most Millennials work hard and are happy to do so. I understand the importance in communicating properly with everyone I come across, too.
-
Also, a lot of the people I know who are my age want to work and provide for themselves, by earning their own money.
