If you beat your own child because you “turned out okay” after your childhood was full of beatings… you did not turn out ok.

How about we just recognise that it's still physical abuse... Love the sugar coating.

Being spanked as discipline and being beat for no reason are two completely different things

Have you done studies on this? Your argument is invalid as you miss the overall effect that physical abuse can have on a child in the long run mentally. Unwanted non-consenual physical touch is assault/abuse.

Spanking is a discipline tool...it’s just as good/bad as any other form of discipline (which entirely depends on how it’s used)

It actually isnt if you ask a child psychologist. Please don't present it as though it's a fact.

So you’re saying there’s a consensus among the overwhelming majority of child psychologists that spanking does more harm than good?

Do your research. You talk about it being a discipline tool, but there are so many resources available to you in how to discipline your children without physical abuse. Why not try it is all I'm saying,

I didn't like getting beatings however I spank my child there is a difference. I have a good kid thats afraid of a spanking so I really have to resort to that except for clear defiance. But she has to learn consequences so that later in life the cops don't have to discipline her.

Consequences can be learned without physical violence!

Not everyone gets that. Spanking is about a parent's/caregiver's anger/lack of control not the kid's 'defiant' behaviour. Most spanking parents do NOT view it as hitting/physical violence. 😕 #NoWords

"Spanking" just teaches/reinforces don't get caught.

It’s funny. I’m not going to throw my hat into the pit of jet fuel to start a fire, but I will say that people need to recognize that how parents treat kids is how they see fit. It’s not your kid. It’s theirs.

"disaplin" sounds like some dangerous pill not tested and approved by the FDA. I'm sure this generation doesn't need any of that.
