I stopped two guys from yelling derogatory remarks at a fat woman who was jogging and asked them ”Why are you yelling at her when she’s doing her best to resolve her issue?“ They looked at their shoes.

did everyone clap?
-
Clapped? Heck no. The two guys walked away without ever looking at me. The fat woman jogged on. The dog that I was walking gave me her “Can we go on now, Jake?” look. Nobody saw. Nobody clapped. Nobody gave a damn. Story of my life.
-
I'm betting the jogger gave a huge damn and cried with gratitude inwardly
Being a fat run/walker, I think I know how she felt! -
BTW, good work. I know how really hard it is to get rid of unwanted weight. My hat is off to anyone overweight who is in any kind of exercise program.
-
Thanks, although my main goal is not to lose weight but to improve my physical condition. If the weight comes off, it comes off. If it doesn't I'll still be healthier, fitter and happier...

-
I was very badly injured once and had to fight my way back into shape, so I know just how hard it is. You have my complete sympathy and support.

No it’s not!
-
Yeah it is. Both want to improve their health. Both are going to the appropriate place to do it. Why is one a spectacle and the other the “right thing to do”?

or skinny*
-
Typically skinny people aren't made fun of at gyms.
-
Ummm, not as much as the fat ones.

Sometimes those "fat" people can squat more then you too.

I think if you make fun of anyone it's bad. Everyone has difference and difficulties so it's unfair and hypocritical of us to make fun of.

No where close!! One is funny.. one is not!
-
They’re both trying to improve health/get better but one is encouraged to get better and the other laughed at?

Not really. In general people get sick through no fault of their own. That's not the case with fat.
-
Some people have trouble losing weight, and that's genetics, some people have eating disorders, also genetics, you don't know what a person is going through so best not to make fun of them.
-
I agree with not making fun esp when they are trying to do something about it. I just felt it was a bad comparison.
-
It wasnt a bad comparison tho. If u would ask an overweight person if they would like to be fat and if a sick person wants to be healthy then they would both probably say yeah
-
When Im sick I wake up feeling ill. It's something that happens to me not that I made happen. Being nearly 20 stone I didn't wake up this size 1 morning it happened over time through poor diet and lack of exercise. No one wants to be either but 1 is more avoidable than the other.
