    Shower Thoughts‏ @TheWeirdWorld Feb 12

You always hear about the dangers of office workers sitting too much but never about children sitting for 8 hours a day at school.

We don't and we have one day with 9 hours with two hours break and two small 15 minute breaks where we just walk tp the next class. During the lessons we dont stand up at all. It depends on the school.

Yeah the class I’m in now we’ll get punished if we’re 20 seconds late(or more)and the teacher sits in the hallway and talks for the first 15 minutes of class everyday while we just sit here and wait for him to finish, it’s fucked up that we can’t be late but he can talk in hall

Kids don't, especially today (at least in our local public school system). Teachers are constantly finding ways to get them to move in class (grab supplies, get into a small group, go up to the board to answer, put stuff away, etc.), they move between classes, younger kids...

No walking from class to class? No PE? Take a stand - literally - and advocate for daily movement! And after school, get at least 60 minutes of movement in.

True. I hated sitting still. I was a fidgety kid & I’m a visual/kinesthetic learner. My smart 5th grade teacher somehow knew I needed to move around, so she sat me in the back with another odd but smart kid, so we would be less distracting to the other kids. Worked like a charm.

I haven’t had recess in 7 years and school may not go on for 30 years but you’re just sitting your life away for first 18 years.
