I’ve used “Man up” on myself when I want to pursue a certain objective, goal, etc.. To me it’s a unisex term. The latter is derogatory

Solution: All the males that refuse to man up should replace their woman in the kitchen

Show me one woman who's ever slept on the couch because she told her man to man up.
-
If he's being told to man up, he's probably in no position to be telling her where to sleep.

Nah. "Man up" is telling someone to aspire. "Stay in the kitchen" is telling someone not to aspire.

<<<this all day. To “Man up” is to take responsibility. It’s no person’s job to “Stay in the kitchen,” unless you work in a kitchen...

I wouldn't say equivalent. Man is a broader term than kitchen. Let's instead rediscover what man is. Maybe manning up can be positive.

Actually the equivalent would be "woman up" because that's the exact opposite

I would say it is closer to telling someone to “calm down”
