    Shower Thoughts‏ @TheWeirdWorld 11 Aug 2017

Despite what teachers told us, Wikipedia did end up being the most valuable resource for research.

As a teacher, I've never told students to avoid it, but rather to verify reliability of sources listed at bottom of pages. Big difference

High school in the early 2000s, anything on the internet was not an acceptable source for teachers. Had to be a published book or periodical

Perhaps for some teachers. Validity and reliability of selected sources were always foremost for me, didn't care if sources were digital

Everything you learn at a community college can be taught via Wikipedia

Anything can be taught on the net as long as you have the tenacity and focus to keep at it. And definitely thousands of dollars cheaper.

When we started writing Wikipedia we know that we'll be biggest source of unverifiable bullshit. We're quite chafed by our contribution.

In HS all the teachers said not to use it and in College we wouldn't be able to use it but when I actually got to college I was allowed to

Did Wikipedia tell you that they are the most valuable resource to research? Give me a source stating that, and it can't be from Wikipedia!

I've never understood why people believe that bc Wiki is one of the best sourced websites Ive seen, it's a ballache trying to edit anything

Not anyone can edit, and edited things dont appear instantly, its hard to do vandalism there
