How come pink is considered to be a different colour than red but light green is considered to be a lighter shade of green?

Pink is named after a flower, while light-green is just low-alcohol green

They don't want to associate pink and red for some reason because pink is "feminine" while red is not, I guess?

Pink is, normally, associated with gays & women; many ppl don't wish to be miss-IDed as either.

um, no. Pink was manly & still is because it obviously takes balls to be "miss IDed." Blue was a girls' color.
